Concordia school chooses a theme verse each year. Our theme is incorporated into our Memory verses, chapel services, published material, weekly newsletter, backpack tags and in many other ways.
The graphic above is our theme for the 2020-2021 school year! We strive to build empathy and service mindset in our students beginning in early childhood, helping everyone understand they have something to give to help others–time, talent or treasure. Schedule a visit to see how Concordia can serve your family!

Concordia teachers and students use Depth and Complexity to better understand information they read, hear and see.  Depth and Complexity tools help students go beyond surface comprehension through specific strategies like looking for patterns, identifying trends, considering other perspectives, by using proper language, by identifying big ideas and by looking for ethical considerations. Because instruction is infused with Depth and Complexity strategies from our earliest grades, students begin to use these tools intuitively as part of their thinking.

Concordia Lutheran School became one of only six schools in Texas to be accepted into the empowerED program offered by TCEA, the Texas Computer Education Association.  Concordia’s faculty will work directly with TCEA staff throughout the 2019-2020 school year.

TCEA designed the empowerED program as a method by which schools could advance teaching practices and promote student learning by using research-driven instructional strategies in the classroom.  Incorporating technology into these instructional tools is a large part of the empowerED initiative, along with school partnerships to create institutional change that accelerates student learning.

As a technology-rich campus, Concordia  is always looking for ways to increase learning and to improve teaching practices. The empowerED program is a perfect fit for these goals. Through this program, Concordia is empowering teachers with new strategies and methods that will result in exceptional student outcomes.  EmpowerED is tailored to Concordia’s campus, meeting faculty where they are in terms of both technology and instruction.

Concordia Lutheran School has made Service Learning a priority across our student body. Because we are called by God to serve others, to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community, we instill in our students the spirit of giving as an essential part of living fully as Christian people. When students are encouraged to serve, in whatever capacity they can, the service mindset becomes part of who they are.

Each grade level has its own service area on which to focus.  Through intentional connection with the community through their area of service, our students begin to understand the full spectrum of human experience. From community helpers to children helping children to veterans to the elderly, our Concordia students learn how they can bless others through thoughtful service.

Our middle school students will complete two substantial service projects, one during seventh grade and one during eighth grade. The projects will be lengthy and involved, and the students will present the projects to a committee of teachers and staff.
